In November 2007 the Karma Kagyu Lineage Diamond Way Buddhist Association become the owner of the allotment located in Żerdno near Czaplinek, by the Silver Lake, in the middle of north-west Poland, half way between Szczecin and Poznan, and only 270km from Berlin.
The 5.4ha area is located by the tourist trail to sightseeing point on Spyczna Gora. Surrounded by many lakes, rivers and natural forests, the region entice many tourist each year. We have beautiful view on the Silver Lake and the whole Landscape Park of Drawa just from the land which we bought. And now we are planning the future development of this place.
Based on all the jewels coming naturally with this place, we are looking for its further growth. The technical documentation for the construction of the meditation center, which will allow us in the future to organize retreats or Dharma courses, is still in preparation. The land is quite varied which gives us many options to allocate the space for few meditation places surrounded by beautiful landscapes and pure nature. There are two natural ponds, small forest with many different kind of trees, and few natural as well as artificial hillocks. We hope that surrounding tourist infrastructure will help us to build the place which will allow people not only to meditate, but also spend some relaxed time sailing on the boats or kayaks, riding the quads or horses, scuba dive or take advantage of many other open air activities available in the nearby.
The center is currently in the initial phase of the construction preparations, which involves organizing access to electricity and fresh water. This place already joined up very vital group of friends – Silver Lake Team – who keep the strong connection by taking active role in developing the retreat center and planning future meditation courses. However as usual we need some external support, especially when it comes to founding the construction works. Hence we would like to invite all other Sangha friends to become part of our activity.
